Those who bought the Sentry prior to the 24th December can use the Sentry. The Sentry initially has below-average DPS compared to other towers for its price. When the tower locks onto a target, it will start to spool-up until its firerate is double its original firerate after 5 seconds. However, this tower has a noticeable delay when switching between targets, making the Sentry a very situational tower.

As someone who plays Engineer, these ideas sound very annoying to deal against. On paper, weaknesses seem ok, but in reality sentries are very rarely alone for example, making some of these weaknesses on-existent.

I think different PDAs would be too complex for new players, whereas concepts like Gunslinger and Demo shields alter playstyle completely while being simple to understand.

Sirrockyqo View Profile View Posts. You can hear footsteps. I've heard them before, caught plenty of invisible spies as an Engineer too, even with the beeping sentry. If the other players jump around, it makes them easier to hear.
Also, some player switch weapons which can generate sounds which then gives them away. It's hard to time when they're going to pop out and you have to be relatively close to them which often means you're dead, but it's possible. What is hacking is people who claim they can hear footsteps across the map. That's just a hacker trying to cover up their wall hack.
Non-weapon TF2 sounds pretty much disappear within relatively short distances. Even the constant drone of a minigun fades into the background within a short distance. I wasn't actually a cloaked spy, I was just running around and they were somewhere nearby, making a beeline to shoot at me without ever seeing me.
